PROTECTION OF INTEGRITY IN SPORTS CONTEXT

Club Gymini adheres to the policies of Gymnastics Québec and the Fédération de Cheerleading du Québec, guaranteeing a safe and equitable environment at all levels of our programs, local and international. Our commitment includes zero tolerance towards any abuse, harassment, neglect or violence, physical, psychological or sexual, both in sporting activities and in any context related to our organization. This approach takes the form of strict policies and preventive measures to detect and stop any form of misconduct or violence. Our approach also includes an independent complaints management mechanism, offering victims a standardized, fair and confidential process to report any problematic situation, thus ensuring an environment where trust and respect for the integrity of everyone are priorities.

RULE OF TWO

The rule of two, adopted by Gymnastics Quebec and Gymnastics Canada, guarantees interactions and exchanges in a transparent and verifiable environment, aimed at ensuring the safety of participants, particularly minors, and coaches during potentially vulnerable situations. This policy requires the presence of at least two adults for any interaction, providing increased protection. However, exceptions may be considered in case of emergency.

FILING A COMPLAINT

How to File a Complaint

Since June 12, 2025, a new organization has been created to manage complaints: the Protector of Integrity in Leisure and Sports (PILS).

The Protector of Integrity in Leisure and Sports (PILS) is an ombudsman whose mission is to ensure the physical and psychological integrity of individuals involved in leisure and sport activities throughout Quebec. It responds to complaints or reports. It can also act on its own initiative when it receives information suggesting a breach.

With investigative powers, the PILS can obtain the information or documents it requires from the individuals it requests. This provides it with all the information necessary to conduct a rigorous analysis of the situations brought to its attention, formulate conclusions, and, where appropriate, issue relevant recommendations.

Providing impartial, confidential, accessible, and effective recourse, the PILS helps create and maintain healthy, safe, and respectful environments in all recreation and sports settings.

Complaint Processing Procedures

The Ombudsman of Integrity in Recreation and Sport undertakes to:

  • Contact the complainant within two business days of receiving the complaint or report;
  • Submit a report of findings to the complainant and the organization concerned within a maximum of 45 days.

During the processing process, all parties involved will be heard to obtain a complete picture of the situation. The Ombudsman of Integrity in Recreation and Sport and his designated staff are vested with investigative powers to shed light on the situations they examine.

If all parties consent in writing, and the Ombudsman deems it appropriate, a facilitation meeting may be arranged. Complaint processing is then suspended during this process.
