4 COMPONENTS

It is possible to take part in different performing components such as jumps, dance, tumbling and cheer-chant. The athlete can register for more than one component. For each one, you will find a description below, the elements judged and additional information.

Jump

The jump component is a component where the participant will be invited to present a series of jumps. The athlete will be able to do between 3 and 8 jumps. He may also take a break between two sequences of jumps of 1 x 8 time (ex: 2 jumps, a 1 x 8 time of motion and 3 other jumps). It is strongly recommended to vary the jumps. You are not allowed to bring your own music.

Cheer chant

The Cheer chant component is a lesser-known component in Quebec, but it returns to the essence of Cheerleading and its mission is to create remarkable fan zones. For this component, the participant will be invited to create a chant with prop and motion for 30 seconds. Although this aspect may seem awkward, we invite our athletes to step out of their comfort zone and maybe raise to the challenge as a family. The chant should last 3 x 8 beats. It must include a slogan, one or more props and rigid arm movements. Ideally, you should have 3 different 8-counts. It is not recommended that they be the same 8 counts.

Dance

The dance component is a component where the participant must perform a choreography that he has invented himself. The dance should last 4 x 8 beats. The elements to plan are footwork and arm movements. Only the athletes performing in the dance component may bring a song or mix of their choice. It is advisable not to do the same 8 counts. In order to be better prepared, it is important to vary the movements, be creative and show some showmanship (and most importantly, have fun!).

Tumbling

The tumbling component refers to acrobatic elements. The participant will be asked to present a stoped pass and a running pass. The participant will not be allowed to present a skill that he does not master. Only athletes who have taken individual private lessons or private lessons during free training can take part in this component. You have to find the balance between difficulty and performance.

As the saying goes: « There’s no point in making a skillful pass if the execution and technique aren’t there ».
