A CHALLENGE LAST WEEKEND FOR G-FORCE ATHLETES

Introduction

Last weekend, the G-Force teams, a member of the large Gymini family, took part in the Cheer Fest competition organized by Sapphire Productions at the Verdun auditorium. This competition was a real challenge for our athletes and we are proud of their overall performance.

The level 1 U8 Eclipse team got a nice 3rd place out of 4 teams. Coaches Léa Laplante and Kaylia Arora are proud of their athletes’ improved attitude and energy as well as their beautiful, well-executed pyramid. They are also very close to a “hit zero”. Congratulations Eclipse!

The Galaxy team, in the U12 level 1 category, finished in 4th position out of 4 teams. The athletes delivered two superb routines over the weekend and earned their first “Hit zero” (no deductions) in competition. The coaches, Chloé Gonneau, Emma Johnson, Emma Béchard and Kaylia Arora are proud of their team’s performance.

Troopers (U-16-L2)

The Troopers team, in the U16 level 2 category, finished in 5th position out of 7 teams. The athletes demonstrated beautiful synchronized tumbling, as well as an improvement in the “baskets” and in the spiraling half-turn in extension in the pyramid. Coaches Océane Cadieux and Florence Dumont can be proud of their team’s commitment and perseverance despite falls and bubbles.

Skywalkers (U-16-L3)

The Skywalkers team, in the U16 level 3 category, finished in 3rd position out of 4 teams. On Saturday, they delivered an incredible performance that was almost a “0 hit” (no deductions). On Sunday, they also gave a superb performance with super synchronized gymnastics. Coaches Maïka Déziel and Léa Laplante can be proud of their team’s positive energy in competition.

Rogue (U-18-L4)

Solos et duos

Finally, our duo and solo teams also shone. Guidgy and Ludovic in the U16 level 4 category finished in first place. Solo Elena in the U16 level 5 category also finished in first position. Sophianne and Laurie as a duo in the U12 level 4 category also finished in first place. All athletes managed to complete their routine despite the challenges encountered. Coach Maïka Déziel can be proud of all her athletes.

In conclusion, we are very proud of all our teams and thank the event organizers, officials, athletes, coaches and parents for this great weekend of competition.

The G-Force

Cheerleading is a mixed sport discipline that was on display at the 2018 Olympics. Cheerleading develops flexibility, strength, coordination, teamwork, perseverance and self-confidence.

Today, cheerleading consists of a mix of acrobatics, floor gymnastics, dancing and jumping, all set to dynamic music. The acrobatics part consists of the execution of human pyramids. The gymnastics part takes up the main movements and sequences of floor gymnastics (tumbling). The G-Force association is the cheerleading component of Club Gymini. The G-Force offers recreational, pre-competitive and competitive teams!

Cheer-Études

The Cheer-studies program, offered through the Sports-Arts-Studies (SAÉ) program at the Cité des Jeunes high school, offers a unique opportunity for athletes to improve in their sport while maintaining good academic performance. The trainings take place every afternoon from 1pm to 4pm, in addition to their team training. Athletes are expected to perform well both in school and in their sport.
